§ 3-42. Part-time Tax Collector.

  • A. 
    Term. The part-time Tax Collector shall hold office for a term of four years from January 1 of the year of said appointment until a successor has been appointed and qualified.
    B. 
    Duties. The part-time Tax Collector shall have, perform and exercise all functions, powers and duties of the Tax Collector of the Township as required by general law and as the Council shall by ordinance provide and, in addition, shall receive and collect all moneys assessed or raised by taxation or assessment of any purpose and all other moneys due to the Township of Mount Holly. The part-time Tax Collector shall enter in suitable books or other records to be kept by him the sums received each day indicating the account to which each receipt is credited and, on the first banking day after receipt of any moneys, shall deposit them in the authorized public depository of the Township to the credit of the appropriate account. The part-time Tax Collector shall report to the Manager at least once each month all receipts and deposits and cash on hand belonging to the Township. The part-time Tax Collector shall proceed promptly to enforce the payment of all delinquent taxes or assessments by the means provided by law and shall promptly, at the conclusion of the period fixed by general law, forward to the Attorney for foreclosure a list of all tax liens held by the Township.
    C. 
    The fees for a duplicate tax bill (N.J.S.A. 54:5-64) shall be $2 for the property owner, $5 for the mortgage company for the first bill and $25 for a second copy.
    D. 
    The fee for a certificate of redemption (N.J.S.A. 54:5-63.1): $25.
    E. 
    The fee for a duplicate tax sale certificate (N.J.S.A. 54:5-52.1): $75.
    F. 
    The fee for the third and any subsequent calculation by the Tax Collector of the amount required for redemption of any prior outstanding tax lien certificate within a calendar year (N.J.S.A. 54:5-54): $50 per calculation.
